Headstone

Epitaph of Mehmed Şekib Pasha, who had the same name as our prophet Muhammad and died while he was the head of the Supreme Council, written by Malik, the preacher of the Gül Mosque, dated 4 Rebiülahir 1271 / December 25, 1854.

SANATSAL FORM HAKKINDA

Lahit mezar biçiminde olup, mermer oturtmalık üzerinde mermer sandukası yer almaktadır. 2 adet baş ve ayak şahideleri de bulunmaktadır.

Lahitin baş ve ayak şahidesinin dış cephelerinde Celî Ta’lik sanatı ile yazılmış mermer kitabesi bulunmaktadır. Şahidelerin üzerinde Mahmudi fes vardır. Ayak şahidesi ise palmet motiflidir. Lahitin tümünde bitkisel formlar ile süslenmiş ampir hakimdir.

ABOUT THE ARTISTIC FORM

The tomb has the sarcophagus form with a marble chest on a marble seat. It has a headstone and a footstone.

On the outer sides of the tombstones, there are marble epitaphs written with the art of Jali Talik. The headstone has the Mahmudi fez on it. The footstone has a palmette motif. The entire sarcophagus is dominated by the Empire style decorated with vegetal forms.
